Lila Top

Arzo Shop

This piece was knit with special attention and care to detail. It represents hope during tough times and the strength it takes to be hopeful when it seems as though all hope is lost.

"I lost my mother when I was a baby and became an orphan when I was in the 3rd grade. I immediately began teaching myself any and every skill that would help me take care of myself. I was desperate and refused to starve. I've been knitting for decades and there isn't a day I don't think about the struggles that women face. We've been pushed out of so many jobs, we look to one another to survive in this industry- the tourist industry. With the decline of tourism and the increase in chaos- we've all lost our jobs. We have nothing left. But the women of these streets are strong. We're fighters. We will always find a way to feed our kids, we will always find a way to see tomorrow."
